There’s a lengthy write-up on Snopes about Jane Fonda’s visit to Vietnam. I honestly can’t blame someone for being mad at her, but the story about her passing on notes to the Vietnamese commandant is deemed as false by Snopes.

Regardless of what she supposedly has done (and she’s probably innocent) , it is rather sad to be so salty about it almost half a century later. Blame the leadership for getting you in that bullshit war, they are the true traitors. And that’s not just true for Vietnam, the second Iraq war is a much more recent example of extreme treachery by the leadership .

People don’t call her Hanoi Jane because of smuggled POW messages. They call her Hanoi Jane because of her jovial trip to Hanoi. She was literally fraternizing with America’s then-enemy.

everything that’s transpired in the US over the past couple of decades has been nothing more than the Boomers throwing temper tantrum after temper tantrum.  They take credit for everything good about this country after WWII and shove blame for everything bad onto the generations which came after them.

the point is they weren’t really our “enemy.” Every conflict we got into post-WWII was a proxy war against the Soviet Union. the “red scare,” the “domino effect,” all bullshit. the Soviet Union would have collapsed on its own.

No argument about that from me. I’m just pointing out why old vets don’t like her and never will.

M akes it tougher to bomb the tar out of the enemy  when you have somebody humanizing them.... I get it, it makes the loss of your buddies much less important/heroic and it hurts terribly.

It’s not sad, it’s fucking pathetic. This guy is so fucking weak and unintelligent he is running around more than 40 years later still using kindergarten insults. And still so completely fucking emasculated by it, he has to put “I WAS A MUHREEN, YOU HAVE TO RUHSPECT MAH ” stickers all over everything.

These people are weak, pathetic losers. J ust like Chad who won’t shut up about how he totally could have gone pro after being a quarterback in high school.

that’s fine, but they’re the most consistent voting bloc (what do old people have to do with their time other than vote) and they’re acting like if they bitch long and loud enough they can force this country to be just like (they think) it was in 1955.

She is a traitor whether she passed notes or not. She went to Vietnam and hung out with the people firing weapons at American troops. Fuck Jane Fonda.

That’s really what it’s about, isn’t it?

That, sadly, is an issue with that generation everywhere. At least on this side of the pond its true as well.

As a generation they are like a locust plague. All while patting themselves on the back and blaming everyone else. Over here it’s the first generation (not influenced by war) that has it better than their offspring. Mostly because they took more than what they replenished, in a tragedy of the commons kind of way.

I t doesn’t surprise me at all someone who fought in Vietnam would hold on to something their entire lives. Keep in mind a lot of Vietnam vets were still teenagers and early twenty-something year-old when they fought. A lot of them were also forced into fighting through the draft, while those richer than them could get their kids out of fighting. Yes, it was our leadership’s fault we were in the war, but as a soldier you can’t think like that. You’ll end up getting killed. Fighting in such a gruesome war during your formative years right out of high school is going to have an impact on the rest of your life.

Being a marine and fighting in a gruesome war at a young age is a bit different than being Chad who played high school quarterback.

Yeah, this guy is probably dealing with some shit, but I encourage you to check out your local VA nursing home and maybe talk to some of the guys. Might give you a bit of perspective.

You are absolutely right and I can understand their emotions from back then, with all the suffering they endured and propaganda they were exposed to.

But it’s well over 40 years later now. I’m not arguing they should like Fonda, but she’s nothing but an extra in this huge conflict. And after more than 40 years you’d expect people preoccupied with the Vietnam war to be able to differentiate between a (for the conflict) nobody and the people responsible for getting all those drafted boys into that mess.

The grunts bleeding in the mud weren't dropping bombs on anybody. They were more preoccupied with trying to not die.

No, it really fucking isn’t . Not this many years on. You did your time, end of fucking story. But please, do pathetically try to condescend to someone who is directly related to two people who were over there, one of which   wrote a fucking book about it . And I guaran-fucking-tee you that both of them saw FAR worse than the asshole owning this car even came CLOSE to. And neither fucking one of them plastered their shit in “ I SERVED IN !!” stickers, spent the rest of their lives with ‘FUCK NIXON’ on the back of their cars, or refused to go out in public without wearing at least two pieces of flair saying they were military.

Because guess what? Serving in the fucking military does not entitle you to JACK SHIT besides the VA and possibly admission to the VFW. Only entitled assholes run around screaming about how they ‘sacrificed,’ because they’re the assholes that think everyone owes them.

Maybe that will give your dumb ass some perspective, hmm?
